To facilitate their stay here, much of the day-to-day communication is in English; you can also easily make your way in Umeå using English. At the department, we provide an exciting mix of expertise in plant ecology, soils and silviculture. Laboratory facilities, field experiments and long-term monitoring sites are all excellent. Our department and Umeå is ideal for those who wish to conduct a postdoctoral period in a modern, easily accessible setting in the boreal forest. A postdoctoral position is usually for 1-2 years, but occassionally we announce 4-year tenure track positions. Please note that you do not apply for stipends here; you can and should only apply directly when a specific position is announced (in which case applications are directed to the Registrar of SLU).
