I am Assistant Professor in tropical forest ecology and management. My main research mission is to improve the well being of poor people in the tropics by providing better knowledge of the management of trees, soils and water. I am involved in collaborative research and PhD supervision in Burkina Faso, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia and Sweden aiming at;

1) Providing evidence for the role of trees on groundwater recharge and soil carbon pools.
2) Improving the availability of phosphorous in soils with high content of aluminium and iron.
3) Finding more biological meaningfull methods to measure phosphorous and nitrogen availability in soils.
4) Undestanding the factors regulating microbial metabolism and carbon quality in soils.
